Lara Taubner is a contemporary Western artist known for her vibrant oil paintings that celebrate the freedom and wildness of the American West. Drawing from a lifetime spent fishing, backpacking, and camping in her native Montana, she creates colorful, textured artworks infused with a sense of place and adventure. Working wet-in-wet, or alla prima, Lara employs both knives and brushes, embracing the immediacy and energy of the plein-air tradition whenever possible. Based in southwest Montana, she often works from her studio alongside her loyal heeler, Heidi, or hits the open road whenever inspiration strikes.
