Lara Taubner is a contemporary Western artist whose oil paintings celebrate the freedom and wildness of the American West. Drawing on a lifetime spent fishing, backpacking, and camping in her native Montana, she creates colorful and textured paintings infused with a sense of place and adventure.
Working wet‑in‑wet, or alla prima, she paints with both knives and brushes, embracing the immediacy and energy of the plein‑air tradition whenever possible. Lara lives in southwest Montana, where she works from her studio alongside her loyal heeler Heidi—or from the open road whenever inspiration calls.
